GIANT EAGLE

Birdseye Steamfresh - .30 cents after .35 coupon.

Land – o – Lakes butter spread - .25 after .50 coupon.

Michelenas - $4 for 5 after $1/5 coupon

I think someone from Giant Eagle got wind of my post about their sauerkraut being priced lower for the name brand items.  Now the Libbys sauerkraut is priced 3 for $4.98 which equates to $1.66 each.  The store brand was $1.55 while the Libby’s was priced $1.25.  Why wouldn’t they just list it as $1.66 each!?  They also have Del Monte sauerkraut on sale this week for $1.55 a can.  Generic isn’t always cheaper and they usually don’t go on sale, so you can find name brand cheaper than generic items, especially when you have a coupon for the name brand item.

A LITTLE STORY

Nothing gets one of my friends up in arms than watching Academic Challenge.  He gets riled up as if it’s the Super Bowl.  He screams at the TV shouting answers. “ It’s Pythagorams theorem you stupid child,” he would yell.  It might be that he finds watching kids that look frightened about being on TV and answering questions with hesitation is more than he can handle.

If one player constantly looks at another player for an answer it will drive him into a fury.  If one keeps getting the answers wrong then it is an ugly scene.  I think to myself, why would you get so upset at these innocent teens that are probably stage struck.

He uses the arm rest on the couch as a makeshift buzzer.  “Don’t whisper – spit out the answer!” he carps.  The answer is Mount Kilamanjaro .  “I knew that answer,” he boasts.  I’m not impressed.  I’d be more impressed if he would knit while he watched the show.  In his dreams I’m sure he would like to see Don Webster to shake one of the kids when they got the answer wrong.  Or maybe Gib or Leon could throw tomatoes indiscriminately at various students.

I heard that if the kids win they get to smoke in class.  I don’t think that’s right, but to be the king and queens of Academic Challenge deserves some type of rewards.  I think they should get to wear a Burger King crown for the day.  That’s special enough.  And my friend can make them lasagna or something.

I can attest that knitting does not help swearing back at the tv. I think it enables more swearing. Glad to see you'll be at the Cuy Falls Library. Will fit you into my tight-knit schedule.
