BLACK FRIDAY
I found that the deals weren’t all that great this year. Not as many free after rebate items. CVS had some good free after extra bucks deals. Kohls had some good deals plus they gave you $10 for every $50 spent. Deals were just about as good as what you can find any other time of the year…minus the lines and dash to get the deals. Speaking of, a Wal-Mart worker in Long Island died when shoppers stampeded. People, people, people…
K-MART
Super Super Doubles until 12/6 at most all northern Ohio area K-Marts. Coupons up to $2 are doubled ($2 coupons double to $4). I paid about $10 for $105 worth of items. Check out neocouponers.com for a breakdown on the deals.
RESTAURANT.COM
Get 50% off of restaurant.com gift certificates. Get $25 gift certificates for $5 at the more popular restaurants early in the month before the sell out such as Pickwick, Fishers, Moxie, Luchita's, Swingos, Quaker Steak and Lube, and the Brown Derby. Use code: Joy

DONATIONS
Last week I donated 670 pounds of food to the Cleveland Food Bank. My house told me thanks. It said it weighed too much and wanted to go on a diet. It also told me that it tickles when I paint any of the rooms. I don’t like to tout how much I donate, but I don’t want people to think I just hoard the food and toiletries. I get asked a lot about what I do with all the excess. I also think it’s important to let people know that if you are able to get items for free, purchase them so that you can donate the items. Because now more than ever, the food banks need donations because of the weakening economy. So if you have excess, donate. You’ll be glad you did. Just so you know, you can claim what you paid for the item minus 50 percent, so in essence it's diddley, but that shouldn't be the reason for not donating.
RITE AID
Free after rebate:
Phillips earbuds
GE timer and surge protector
Gillette Fusion razor – after coupon
The pharmacy in Willoughby told my wife that they weren't accepting any more of the $30 transferred prescription gift card coupons. That didn't seem right, so I called 1-800 RITE AID to complain and sure enough I get a call a half hour later from the manager letting me know that the gal at the pharmacy was ill-informed. Nice that they took care of it so quick. Pays to be a persistent cuss. But if you ask to refill your Flintstones vitamins prescription too many times for the gift card, they get really angry.
And always remember that just because they say so, doesn't mean they are right. I hear too many stories of people being told the wrong information by people from the store themselves. A few people from a K-Mart told a customer that they were only doubling $1 coupons up to $2 value. Not true. I even showed the person asking me a receipt showing they doubled coupons valued at more than $1 ($1.50 doubled to $3 off). How can consumers follow the rules when the store doesn't even know them!?!

GIANT EAGLE
I'd advise not to get gift cards, but if you do Giant Eagle is offering 20 cents at GetGo for every $50 spent there for gift cards this holiday season. Many places are also offering bonus gift cards for gift card purchases. Too many stores and restaurants are on the fringe of going bankrupt, so be forewarned. Many have touted their gift cards only to close soon after...the scoundrels. So if they don't play fair, then I say everyone should suffer by not buying gift cards until they change the gift card rules.
BANKS MESS
So how did we get into this mess with the banks without anyone raising a red flag? Well, red flags were raised and ignored. Read on: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081201/ap_on_bi_ge/meltdown_ignored_warnings
