JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT AUCTION
I'm being auctioned for my services. Shopping services that is. I will spend two hours shopping at agreed upon location(s) and show you how to increase your savings. A personal shopper of sorts. I normally save enough money every year that it would equal the cost of a new car...and no, not a used '78 Gremlin. I'm talking a new BMW. I can show you how to do the same.
Junior Achievement helps kids around town to better their skills and give them a better understanding of the community and world around them. The money goes to JA so that they can continue to offer their programs to local schools. I volunteer for JA as a teacher. PBS aired a program where they interviewed some of the students at St. Rocco's school on Fulton Road where I taught them Personal Ecomonics the other year. Great programs.

ECONOMY - O-METER
Unemployment - jumped to 6.5% - highest in 14 years.
Nevada Homeowners - almost half with a mortgage owe more to the bank than their homes are worth.
Target - paid $1.7 civil penalty for overcharging California customers through electronic cash register scanners that rang up too high prices. The stores, without admitting guilt, also agreed to improve their pricing procedures for the next four years. So, after 4 years what happens?? The truth will set you free, buddy...
BANKRUPT
Circuit City - they declared bankruptcy. As I mentioned in the last e-mail, there were rumblings that they would. If you have a gift card for them, they are worthless. Just a reminder this holiday season NOT to buy gift cards. Too many stores are going out of business and with the tight lending policies of banks many businesses may not make it past this holiday season. There should be plenty of deals this season, so buy gifts instead.
